What’s in Palaces and estates of the royal family

The Queen of England, as is well known, resides at Buckingham Palace, but where does the rest of her family live? Despite the fact that the most of them still own multiple homes (one of the perks of being royal), these are the castles, palaces, and royal estates that each member of the royal family typically calls home.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

Buckingham Palace is the home of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh while they are based in London during the week. The majority of their weekends are spent at Windsor Castle, they spend August and September at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, and Christmas is spent at Sandringham House in Norfolk.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

CLARENCE HOUSE

The Queen’s Mother lived at Clarence House from 1953 until her death in 2002; it was converted into The Prince of Wales’s official London residence in 2003. The home, which is adjacent to St. James’s Palace, became Camilla Parker-Bowles’ official residence after she wed Charles and took the title of Duchess of Cornwall in 2005. She helped to plan the modifications. Prince William and Prince Harry both lived here until building their own private residences at Kensington Palace in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

KENSINGTON PALACE

In the middle of 2017, William decided to leave his job with the East Anglian Air Ambulance so the couple could focus on their royal responsibilities and Prince George could attend school in London. Since then, the Cambridge family’s primary residence has been Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace.

They had previously spent the majority of their time at Anmer Hall, which is situated on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

KENSINGTON PALACE

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved into the two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace after their engagement was formally announced in the fall of 2017.

When they have children, however, it is rumored that the couple will move to a larger residence in the main structure of Kensington Palace, close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Will and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, whose official residence is Kensington Palace, are neighbors of Meghan and Harry.

Anne, Princess Royal

GATCOMBE PARK

The Queen’s lone child resides at St. James’s Palace in London, although she and her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, spend the majority of their time at Gatcombe Park in Gloucester. Her daughter Zara Tindall moved her family into a remote home in 2013. Given that Princess Anne and Zara are both skilled riders, it makes reasonable that they would want to spend their time outside of London.

Prince Andrew, Duke of York

THE ROYAL LODGE IN WINDSOR GREAT PARK

Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the Queen’s third child, moved into the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park in 2004 with his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Before he moved in, the Queen Mother remained there until her passing in 2002.

Sarah Ferguson reportedly moved in with the family in 2008 and has remained there despite Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s 1996 divorce.

Princess Eugenie and her fiancé Jack Brooksbank moved into Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace, right next door to Harry and Meghan, after announcing their engagement in early 2018.

Princess Beatrice spends the most of her time at Afiniti, a New York City-based artificial intelligence company, where she holds the position of Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex

BAGSHOT PARK

The eldest son of the Queen and Sophie, Countess of Wessex spends the majority of their time with their two children in Bagshot Park in Surrey. Prince Edward rented the 57-room mansion on 87 acres of Crown Estate land in 1998, a year before getting hitched.

In the final scene, as the sun set over the horizon, casting a golden glow upon the majestic Palaces and estates of the royal family, a sense of tranquility filled the air. The grand structures stood as a testament to a bygone era, where opulence and power intertwined. As visitors gazed upon the timeless beauty, they couldn’t help but marvel at the enduring legacy that these Palaces and estates held, forever etching themselves into the annals of history.
